Sudan - Etiopia - Gibuti - Somalia - Kenya - Uganda


The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) received from the Italian government over half a million Euro to support the activities of eastern Africa regional bloc.According to the agreement the money – EUR 500,000 will be used for budgetary support and substantive activities by the Secretariat for the period October 2016 – June 2017.After the ceremony of the agreement the Italian Government noted that Italy has been strongly supporting IGAD and its programs since the creation.Italian Government added that the support of IGAD’S efforts in Somalia and South Sudan and the security sector areas can be highlighted ad successful partnership between IGAD and Italy.Italy has been playing a key role as a co-chair of the IGAD Partner’s Forum (IPF).During the ceremony Ambassador Giuseppe Mistretta explained the importance of IGAD activities for the peace, security and development in the Region and for an integrated economic cooperation among the IGAD Member States.Ambassador Maalim, appreciated the support of the Italian Government and called for continues partnership in the areas of common interest for the attainment of IGAD’S objectives.
