MOZAMBICAN GOVERNMENT FORESEES CREATION OF 1.7 MILLION JOBS BY 2022

The Mozambican government plans to create around 1.7 million new jobs by 2022 with the implementation of the Employment Policy Action Plan, an official source said. “It is an instrument that will harmonise sectoral approaches for the promotion of employment” by the public and private sector, spokeswoman Ana Comoana explained after the Council of Ministers meeting in Maputo yesterday. The measure also plans to enrol one million Mozambicans in training programmes and build 18 new technical and vocational schools across the country over the next four years. “The plan establishes mechanisms for coordination, evaluation and monitoring, and sets targets, taking into account the political vision of job promotion,” Comoana explained. The plan also includes 1,000 civic service providers and 750 producers’ associations. “These actions, aimed at promoting employment, will be developed by both the Government and the private sector,” the Council of Ministers spokeswoman said.
