THE MINISTRY OF MARITIME AFFAIRS AND FISHERIES SAID THAT 80 PERCENT OF INDONESIA seaweed was exported in dry form

Indonesia's Director General for Strengthening the Competitiveness of Maritime and Fishery Products (Dirjen PDSKP), Budi Sulistiyo, stated that 80 percent of Indonesia's seaweed products are exported in dry form, while 20 percent are processed or in downstream form. The current economic value of seaweed products is likely to increase with increased domestic processing. The government is working to realize the downstreaming of seaweed immediately. KKP is preparing a pilot project in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi, covering 400 hectares, with a target realization this year. In 2022, Indonesia exported 194,395.2 tons of seaweed to China, followed by South Korea with 7,813.9 tons and Vietnam with 6,138.2 tons. The seaweed cultivation project will prioritize environmental sustainability, using coconut fiber as a substitute for plastic rope to tie seaweed. The project will be considered cheaper if calculated within one year, and it has been discussed with cultivators to switch to this more environmentally friendly material.Link di fonte: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/3651999/kkp-sebut-80-persen-rumput-laut-ri-diekspor-dalam-bentuk-kering (ICE GIACARTA)
