Kazakhstan open to Turkmenistan gas and electricity supply, awaits offer - Energy MinistryKazakhstan is open to considering the option of importing gas and electricity from Turkmenistan, with the final decision depending on its commercial viability, Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliev said."We regularly discuss energy resource exchange with our Central Asian partners. Turkmenistan has the capability to supply electricity. Currently, exports to the Kyrgyz Republic are underway. Any decision will be based on our domestic needs and maintenance plans. We're open to considering Turkmenistan's gas and electricity proposals, as long as they benefit our consumers,” Satkaliev said during a briefing on Tuesday.He clarified that Kazakhstan has not yet received any formal offers. "At present, our electricity and gas needs are fully met. We will evaluate any new offers based on their commercial viability” the Energy Minister said.Satkaliyev suggested that KazMunayGas and KEGOC would handle the details of implementing these proposals.Previously, former Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had announced Turkmenistan's readiness to supply gas and electricity to Kazakhstan.
