This was discussed at a meeting of the working group of the Eurasian Economic Commission on competition and the elimination of barriers in the field of communications, which was held on March 28 in videoconference format with the participation of authorized bodies of the EAEU countries and mobile operators,” the message says.It is reported that the meeting participants discussed the draft rules developed by the EEC.It is planned that after agreeing on technical issues, the parties will approve the levels of reduction in international interconnect rates for roaming calls and inter-operator roaming tariffs.“We strive to create such conditions that citizens of the EAEU in any country of the Union use communications at home tariffs. The level of home tariffs will be determined by companies independently, taking into account the balance of interests of mobile operators and consumers,” the director of the EEC Antimonopoly Regulation Department is quoted as saying.In 2021, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved an Action Plan to create the conditions necessary to establish fair tariffs for cellular communication services in international roaming in the territories of the EAEU states. It is envisaged that by the first quarter of 2025 all measures will be implemented.The plan includes a set of measures to combat fraud, ensure direct interaction between telecom operators when passing international roaming traffic, determine the maximum volume (period) of communication services provided at fair rates in roaming, and others.
