LOWEST BIDDERS EMERGE FOR KUWAIT HOUSING PROJECT

The lowest bidders have emerged for two roads and infrastructure network contracts for the South Sabah Al Ahmed township project in Kuwait's Al Asimah Governorate.The project developer, Kuwait Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW), received commercial bids from contractors last week.The following companies have submitted prices for the roads and infrastructure networks for 7,623 residential units (N5, N7, N9, N10):China State Construction Engineering Corporation ($304m) (China)Sinohydro Corporation ($317m) (China) Combined Group Contracting Company ($330m) (local)Kuwait Arab Contractors Company ($337m) (local) United Gulf Construction Company ($346m) (local)Kuwait Factories Construction & Contracting ($348m) (local)China Gezhouba Group ($368m) (China) China Railway No.5 Engineering Group ($370m) (China) Al Ghanim International ($376m) (local) Al Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading ($567m) (local)Mohammed Abdul Mohsen Al Kharafi (undisclosed) (local)Contractors have also submitted prices for another project package, including the roads and infrastructure networks for 6,189 residential units (N4, N6, N8). The contract, which was awarded in March last year, covers the construction of roads, utility services networks, rainwater tanks, freshwater networks, saline water networks, and associated facilities.The duration of the construction works is three years, according to the ministry notice.UK-based Foster + Partners designed the masterplan for the South Sabah Al Ahmad township project. The scheme includes constructing a residential development containing over 11,000 housing units.The South Sabah Al Ahmad project covers an area of 6,150 hectares and is located 70 kilometres south of Kuwait (ICE KUWAIT)
