Batumi oil terminal resumes shipment of Kazakhstani dark oil products to EuropeThe Batumi oil terminal has resumed the shipment of Kazakh dark oil products for delivery to European countries, using single-point buoy mooring, the press service of KazTransOil JSC reported.“In March 2024, the Batumi Oil Terminal No. LLC resumed loading of heavy oil products produced at Kazakhstan oil refineries onto Aframax tankers in batches of 60,000 - 80,000 tonnes. The cargo is then sent to European countries,” the message says.According to KazTransOil JSC, loading of dark oil products of Kazakhstan origin is planned to be carried out on a monthly basis.“The resumption of this work is associated with the diversification of transit transport routes,” the press service clarified.Shipments of fuel oil and VGO (vacuum gas oil) in large quantities have actually been stopped since October 2018. Shipment of heavy oil products in large quantities onto Aframax tankers allows clients of Batumi Oil Terminal LLC to reduce transportation costs, which in turn makes the route of Kazakhstani cargo for export through Batumi more attractive and will increase their transshipment volume. Large-capacity oil tankers of the Aframax type are designed for the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products in an unlimited navigation area. The length of the tanker is 250 meters, width - 44 meters, deadweight – 114,000 tonnes.KazTransOil JSC is a national operator of main oil pipelines, part of the NC KazMunayGas group, owns a diversified network of main oil pipelines with a length of 5,400 km. Since August 22, 2017, owns a 100% stake in Batumi Oil Terminal LLC. Batumi Oil Terminal LLC has exclusive rights to manage a 100% stake in Batumi Sea Port LLC, owned by the state (Georgia).
