BAHRAIN IS EXPECTED TO SEE POSITIVE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF 3.5 PER CENT THIS YEAR.

Bahrain is expected to see positive economic growth of 3.5 per cent this year, according to Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. He told MPs during their weekly session yesterday that the economy witnessed a 2.6pc positive economic growth last year following a 5.1pc positive rise in 2022 post the Covid-19 pandemic.“The economic growth didn’t come at the expense of increased prices as inflation last year was stabilised at less than 0.2pc,” said the minister.“We await global inflation rates to drop to 5.8pc this year compared to 6.9pc last year”.“At the moment we are working to strengthen potential sectors that could lead the country to further economic prosperity, create job opportunities, provide adequate pay and enable progress so all external factors would have minimal effect on us”.He was responding to a question by Parliament second deputy speaker Ahmed Qarata on ways to tackle inflation.Shaikh Salman said that the government was closely monitoring indexes provided by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
