KAZAKHSTAN-EAEU-PROTOCOL-RATIFICATION

Kazakhstan ratifies amendments to Treaty on EAEUPresident of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law “On the ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union dated May 29, 2014,” the press service of the head of state reports.As previously reported, one of the main amendments is the possibility of issuing phytosanitary certificates and certificates of state registration in electronic form.When the amendments are implemented, it will be possible to issue electronic phytosanitary certificates, which are directly entered into the electronic database. They are assigned a corresponding QR code.Other amendments to the agreement relate to technical regulation, veterinary and sanitary measures, macroeconomic and foreign trade policies, transport, and the collection of indirect taxes.In addition, other provisions of the agreement contribute to the establishment of a uniform procedure for conducting inspections and strengthening interstate cooperation of the EAEU countries.Earlier, Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev reported that a total of 106 amendments were being made to the Treaty on the EAEU.The amendments also provide for the introduction of a mechanism for repeated anti-dumping investigations if the third-country producers undercut the export price.In addition, it is envisaged to introduce fines for non-compliance with decisions of the Commission on competition rules.
