KUWAIT LAUNCHES OIL AND GAS PROJECT PORTAL

Kuwait’s national oil and gas company Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has launched its own tendering portal to streamline the tendering process for projects. The portal has been named the “KPC and Subsidiaries K-Tendering Portal” and is being referred to as “K-Tender” by contractors. The portal currently has a total of seven tender opportunities. It is centralising some information that used to be published by KPC’s subsidiaries as well as providing an alternative to the Kuwaiti government’s Central Agency for Public Tenders (Capt). The creation of the K-Tendering portal comes as KPC merges many of its subsidiaries, reducing its total number of subsidiaries from eight to just four.In the future it is expected that KPC will be using both the K-Tendering portal as well as Capt to tender projects.Capt currently has no committee members and at the moment KPC is only using the K-Tendering portal to tender its projects.Capt is expected to have new committee members assigned once Kuwait has formed a new government. On 15 April, Kuwait's Emir appointed Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah as prime minister after parliamentary elections took place earlier in the month. The latest parliament is the fourth to be formed since December 2020 and when the new prime minister forms a new cabinet it will be the seventh in less than two years.
