Kazakhstan exports 300,000 tonnes of polypropylene to Europe, targets 100,000 tonnesKazakhstan exported 30,000 tonnes of polypropylene to Europe last year and aims to increase shipments to 100,000 tonnes, Deputy Minister of Energy Askhat Khasenov said."In 2023, we exported 30,000 tonnes of Kazakh polypropylene to Europe, and we plan to increase this volume to 100,000 tonnes in the future," Khasenov told reporters on Thursday.He highlighted that polypropylene is "the second most popular plastic in the world," with consumption growing by an average of 3-4% annually.The polypropylene production plant of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc LLP commenced operations in early November 2022. The facility has a capacity of 500,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year, utilizing propane from the Tengiz field as raw material. The construction of the complex cost the participants $2.63 billion, including the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreement totaling $1.865 billion. (ICE ALMATY)
