TALENT OFFICE PLANNING TALKS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA, EUROPE

Talent office planning talks in Southeast Asia, Europe The SAR’s Talent Office plans to expand its efforts to attract more talent to Hong Kong by organizing talks in Southeast Asia and Europe in the second half of this year, said Anthony Lau Chun-hon, the director of Hong Kong Talent Engage. Lau expressed his surprise at the overwhelming response to the first Global Talent Summit held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, which just concluded. The summit saw some 3,400 participants attending forums at the venue, with an additional 50,000 people watching the livestreams on the first day. “The Talent Office, which organized the summit, intends to strengthen its promotional activities in Southeast Asia and Europe by conducting face-to-face talks at renowned universities,” Lau said. Lau also hoped for the office to increase the number of its partners to 80 from the current 36. These partners provide support to talented individuals, and the office plans to organize around 36 themed seminars and workshops throughout the year. On the Top Talent Pass program, Lau said the city received 80,000 applications as of last month, with 65,000 already approved. Out of the approved applicants, around 51,000 individuals have arrived in the city. During the Global Talent Summit, Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki spoke at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area High-quality Talent Development Conference. Chan outlined four essential elements required to build a "talent highland" between the SAR and GBA cities. These elements include commencing talent recruitment efforts after the pandemic, emphasizing the city's higher education system to train local talent, promoting Hong Kong as a bridge for talent transfer and enhancing cooperation with other Greater Bay Area cities in terms of talent training, recruitment, and exchange. https://www.thestandard.com.hk/section-news/section/4/262625/Talent-office-planning-talks-in-Southeast-Asia,-Europe (ICE HONG KONG)
